Is it permissible to speak about the Essence of Allah The Almighty by referring to one’s mind?
Q: Is it permissible to speak about the Essence of Allah The Almighty by referring to one’s mind?
A: It is not permissible to speak about the Essence of Allah The Almighty by referring to one’s mind for the human mind is feeble to realize the Essence of the Creator The Exalted and whatever image comes to your mind about Allah The Almighty should be rejected.
Q: If the mind cannot realize the Essence of Allah The Almighty, so how can one know Allah The Almighty while knowing him is obligatory upon every person?
A:knowing Allah The Almighty can be attained through knowing His Attributes such as Al-Wujood (Existence), Qidam (being without beginning, and eternal in the past), Al-Baqaa’ (being without end, and eternal in the future;), Mukhaalafah lil Hawaadith(unlike the created beings), Qaa’im bi Nafsih (Self-independent), Al-Wahdaaniyyah (Oneness), Life, Knowledge, Power, Will, Hearing, Seeing and Speech.
Q: How do we know Allah The Almighty while we do not see Him with our eyes?
A:We knew the existence of Allah The Almighty and His other Attributes by the effects of His Power in the created beings that are well-formed and cause confusion to the minds of humans such as the heavens whatever therein like the sun, moon, and stars; and the earth and whatever therein like minerals, trees and the like of the different kinds of animals that include humans who are created in the best stature, who is endued with different types of perfection and virtue and who was distinguished with the sound mind. This is exactly like the one who sees a building knows for certain that it has a builder and the one who sees a book knows for certain that it has a writer although he does not see him or hear about him. Also, the one who sees this perfect wonderful great world knows for certain that it has a creator who is Qadeem (has no beginning), All-knower, Willful, All-Powerful and All-Wise.
Q: Does this issue have an example in the created beings i.e. is there something in the created beings that we are certain of its existence while we cannot see it?
A:Yes, such as the spirit. We are certain of its existence while we have never seen it before. We just see its effects. We cannot see it with our eyes nor can realize its reality with our minds. This is what exactly applies to Allah The Almighty, The Exalted. Although we cannot see Him with our eyes nor can realize His reality with our minds, we are certain of the existence of His Essence that is characterized with the attributes of perfection for what we see of the effects of His wonderful creation prove that in the best way.
Q: Could we discuss the reality of Ar-Rooh (Spirit) and search for its essence?
A: No, this is not permissible since the human mind is feeble to realize its reality. So, searching for its essence is just a kind of wasting time. Actually, this is the greatest evidence on the feebleness of the human mind for it cannot realize the reality of his spirit although it is a created being and a part of him. This proves that he will never realize the reality of his Creator to Whom there is none comparable.
Q: Is it possible to see Allah The Almighty, The Exalted with naked eye?
A: Seeing Allah The Almighty with naked eye is possible and according to textual evidences, it will occur at Paradise for the believers. Allah The Almighty is Existent and every existent can be seen. Allah The Almighty Says:
[Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant, Looking at their Lord. [Al-Qiyaamah 75: 22-23]
They will look at Him on the Day of Resurrection without describing how, while the disbelievers will be deprived of that to increase their grief and regret.
Q: Is the evil eye real?
A: Yes, the evil eye is real for amongst the characteristics of some souls that if they look at something admirably, the one who was looked at may be harmed. However, such kinds of souls are very rare. So, one should not occupy himself thinking in that matter and attribute most of what afflicts him to the evil eye or magic as many women do because that is really a kind of lightheadedness and foolishness
Q: How can eye have such effect while it is the honorable organ in man and that no connection between it and the person who is looked at and that nothing at all comes out of it?
A: It is possible to find that the gentle matter may have a big effect and connection is not at all necessary. We see that if some of those who have influential positions and great prestige look angrily to someone, then the person who is looked at may be surprised and confused and in some times he may lose control himself although he has no apparent effect on him and there is no connection or touch between the cause and the effect. Magnet attracts iron and steel objects while there is no connection between them. And while nothing at all comes out of it, such effect is attributed to it. Rather, the gentle matters may have greater effect from the bad matters. As for the bodily matters, they stem from will and intention and both are abstract matters. So, there is no wonder to find the eyes have an effect on the person who was looked at while it is very gentle organ, has no connection between them and that nothing at all comes out of it.
