Name of Allah As-Samad-The Eternal One

Praise be to Allah, and blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family and companions.

Meanings and Denotations of Allah's Name As-Samad:

1- He is the Master with absolute sovereignty to whom all His creatures turn for their needs and for whatever happens to them, and to whom all hearts turn, hoping for His mercy and fearing His punishment.

- He is the One to plea to at times of crises and needs. Indeed, no one else should be sought except Him.

2- He is absolutely perfect in His Essence and His attributes, there is nothing like Him among His creation.

3- Allah is above all His creation by His Essence and Attributes, He is above all comparison.

4- He has the complete sovereignty, glory, abundance, might, knowledge, mercy and wisdom.

- He is perfect in all His attributes, He is The Mighty Who is perfect in His might, The Master Who is the perfect in His sovereignty, The Most Noble Who is perfect in His nobility, The Most magnificent Who is perfect in His magnificence, The Most Forbearing Who is perfect in His forbearance, The All-Knowing Who is perfect in His knowledge, and The Most Wise Who is perfect in His wisdom. He is the One Who is perfect in all aspects of nobility and authority. He is Allah, glory be unto Him. These attributes are not befitting anyone other than Him. He has no coequal and nothing is like Him. Glory be to Allah, the One, the Irresistible.

5- He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none coequal or comparable unto Him. As-Samad is the one Who neither begets nor was He begotten; because anything that was born (has a beginning) will eventually die, and anything that dies will be inherited. Almighty Allah does not die nor will He be inherited.

6- Allah is not hollow, needing neither sustenance nor offspring for His survival. While human beings have hollow torsos being filled with the organs of their subsistence and procreation.

7- It is narrated from Abdullah bin Buridah that As-Samad is glittering light.

Worshipping Allah by His Name As-Samad:

1- Whoever knows that His Lord is As-Samad Who is above His creation by His perfect attributes should be diligent in supplicating to Allah Who will certainly accept the supplication, and answer him. The Muslim should commit to monotheism, sincerity and the accurate sound belief in Names and Attributes of Allah so that to get the highest rank in Paradise with the righteous and the truthful.

2- Whoever knows that His Lord is As-Samad should turn to Him in His religious and worldly needs. He should not turn to anyone, He pray to Him only, and depend on The Creator not the creation. He should plea only to Allah, not anyone else. He should fear only Allah, not anyone else. He should entrust Allah and rely on Him, not anyone else.
